Winter Walking Festival 2012

Crockmore / Crockbrack

 

 

Level: Grade A/B Walks available

 

Distance: Grade A : 10 miles / Grade B : 8 Miles

Departing: 9am from Burnavon Cookstown (Bus Transport Provided)

Suitable for: Experienced Hill Walkers

Route Description:

From the quite village of Moneyneany each group will have an upward road walk, grading into mountain tracks as we make our way West to summit both Crockmore and Crockbrack mountains. These are two of the most splendid view points the Sperrins can offer. Off track walking leads us unto Craigbane were the B group will take a downward mountain track, followed by a short road walk back to Moneyneany. The A group will continue to climb both Spelhoagh and Oughtmore mountains before finishing at the foot of Albritain Forest. Two super walks with fantastic scenery. Don't forget to bring the camera.

Transport arrangements:

Bus transport (departing at 9am) will be provided from Burnavon Arts and Cultural Centre Cookstown to the starting point of the Walk.  The bus will wait to transport walkers back to the Burnavon for approximatley 4pm. 

FREE carparking is available in the car park behind the Burnavon Centre.

Glenshane Circuit 

 

Level: Grade A Walk

Distance: Grade A : 9 miles / Highest Point : 479m

Departing: 9am from Burnavon Cookstown (Bus Transport Provided)

Suitable for: Experienced Hill Walkers

Route Description:

Another fantastic walk awaits for our Sunday Sperrintrekker. Starting high in the Eastern Sperrins you find yourself lost in no time in the splendour of our first summit of the day, Collnasillagh mountain. Following the fence-line East its unto Bohilbreaga mountain, the highest point of today's walk. Following the fence line for a short time we will then change direction to head North. There will be a short stop towards Glenshane mountain to view Glendoo burn with its wonderful waterfall. Its then unto Corick mountain, our last mountain of the day. From here the walk will continue to follow the track down through Glenshane Forest to finish at Shaskin Bridge.
